Paid $400 for work that didn’t fix the problem and wasn’t even authorized. They dumped in some refrigerant, sprayed a coil, patted themselves on the back, and left. The system failed again almost immediately. I replaced the thermostat myself, and it’s been running flawlessly ever since.
When I brought this up, the operation manager decided the real issue wasn’t the misdiagnosis — it was me. According to him, I’m just “one of those customers” who wants free work. Right — because clearly I staged a fake AC breakdown just to scam them out of a complimentary coil rinse. Criminal mastermind stuff.
Here’s the kicker: I gave them three or four separate chances to make this right. I said, “Hey, just refund me the unnecessary work and I’ll pay the diagnostic fee.” Denied. I even offered, “Apply what I already paid toward other work I actually do need done.” Denied. Every time, they doubled down that I was “the problem.”
He also told me “statistically, there are people like you.” Translation: statistically there are customers who don’t enjoy paying hundreds of dollars for nothing. Congratulations, I’m one of them.
And the best part? By the time you scroll down to read his response, you’ll probably see him say exactly what I just predicted. Honestly, it’ll feel scripted. Popcorn recommended.
For the record: I’m a mechanical engineer with HVAC expertise. I don’t say lightly that this was a textbook Band-Aid misdiagnosis. The system only stabilized after I replaced the thermostat. That makes this clearly a controls issue, not the “low refrigerant” and “dirty coil” they billed me for.
Bottom line: I didn’t want free work. I wanted competent work. What I got instead was $400 worth of nothing and a lecture about how I’m the problem.

I had three AC/ Gas furnaces replaced in my home. NWA gave me my second estimate and came in 40% cheaper than the first company (without seeing the competitions numbers). They offered fair financing terms; thier crew was professional, worked clean, efficiently, and did a great job getting my systems up and running quickly. Called for service on one of my five commercial carrier units that went out. Tom was able to come on the same day, quickly diagnosed the issue and able to get the unit running. Fast service, great knowledge and friendly team. So impressed asked for a quarterly maintenance plan. Thank you NWA Cooling & Heating Team!
